Composers, songwriters, and musicians working in a wide range of musical genres are welcome at Byrdcliffe during the May through September 2018 AIR season. Please note regarding equipment: all music composition residents must supply their own keyboard, microphones, headphones, computer, etc. Several pianos are available on Byrdcliffe’s campus, including a recently donated upright Stienway in the studio. Music Composition residents have access to a private studio called the Ice House, a converted outbuilding near the Byrdcliffe Barn where they can work undisturbed as well as several performance spaces that may be utilized for informal presentations of works-in-progress.

Individual artists participating in Byrdcliffe's Artist-in-Residence program are asked to pay a subsidized fee of $700 for the residency which covers private studio access and a private bedroom in a shared building within a 250-acre mountain campus. You may select your accommodation preferences on the application. Byrdcliffe offers financial aid opportunities to participants based on a combination of need and merit. To be considered for a fellowship, artists must fill out and submit the required financial information listed in the application.

In addition to basic information and preferences you will be asked to supply the following support materials during your AIR application:

-A professional resume / CV

-3 statements, each under 200 words or one paragraph: Bio Statement, Goals, and Approach to Communal Living

-Names and contact information of two references  (one personal/one professional)

-5 music samples (no more than 15 minutes in total) and the scores of the work samples

-If applying for financial aid, the first two pages of your most recent tax return
